MANSFIELD Town's England C midfielder Jon D'Laryea was involved in a dramatic landing at Heathrow Airport after representing his country - for the second successive international.
D'Laryea and his England teammates were fresh from a 2-2 against Italy in Naples last Wednesday which took them to the final of the International Challenge Trophy.

But as their plane returned England, it aborted its landing at Heathrow at the last minute when a computer informed the captain that the nose wheel was malfunctioning.

The plane then circled the airport for 20 minutes and jettisoned fuel, as emergency services at Heathrow prepared for an emergency landing.

Fortunately, the plane's captain believed that the problem was simply a computer fault - and not a geuine problem with the wheel - and the plane eventually landed safely.

In September D'Laryea and the England side, then including Stags' Nathan Arnold, had also been involved in a flight scare when their plane twice aborted landings in Sarajevo due to bad weather ahead of a friendly match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
