Worksop Retford and District Schools U13s, which includes players from schools in the Chad catchment area, travelled down the M1 to play the City of Nottingham in the first divisional game of the season.
With wet conditions and a heavy pitch, Worksop started well, getting the ball down and playing attractive football.

Chances were plenty, but the home side’s enormous goalkeeper kept Oliver Brock and Connor Johnson and bay with a series of outstanding saves.

The breakthrough came with a good move down the flank culminating in Oliver Brock finishing with a superb low drive that nestled into the bottom corner.

The second half resumed with Worksop playing good attacking footballbut wasting several chances.

Sam Graniey in the Worksop goal was rarely tested, and in the closing stages Worksop almost made it two. Oliver Brock’s curling free kick from the edge of the box was heading for the top corner, but a superb reaction save saw the home keeper claw out his effort.

In particular, Robson Doolan and Alex Sringfellow put in tireless performances.
