A MAN who died after a police chase on the M1 in the early hours of Sunday has been named.
Steven Bellerby (25), of Peterlee, County Durham, was in the back of a Vauxhall Corsa which ran off the road and down an embankment at junction 29a at 2am.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and theft of a vehicle - a 31-year-old from Southampton and a 26-year-old from County Durham.

An Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) investigation into the incident is now underway.

The motorway was closed northbound for several hours between J28 and J30, but was re-opened just before noon.

  • Any witnesses should contact Derbyshire police on 0845 123 3333.

Why are you reffering to him as a victim if he was in the stolen car which failed to stop? If you get into a stolen car and the driver refuses to stop, then who's fault is it? Don't get in stolen cars if you don't want to run the risk of this.

The police can't win one way or the other can they. if they don't tackle crime and criminals head on they get bashed, if they do they also get bashed!

Does M stand for moaner Cheryl. That's all you seem to do, moan, moan, moan, moan, moan.

Anyway, what you commenting on a car crash for I thought you didn't believe in them being reported. It's called news.
Your comments on the Glapwell crash the other night defied belief!!
The road was closed and people would no doubt be looking to the local press to find out what happened. If you don't want news reported I suggest you move to China where they like to hide things from the public.

Anyway, see you. I'm off to enjoy the Christmas lights at full power. The big wheel was good too!
