ROGER Dean will pull on the signature outfit of the 'man in black' for The Johnny Cash Story, featuring at Mansfield Palace Theatre on 14th November.
The show features 49 hits from Cash's huge back catalogue, including I Walk The Line, Get Rhythm, Folsom Prison Blues, Five Feet High and Rising, which Roger and his band The Lazy Boys use to help tell the story of the legendary country music star.

Roger, who has worked as an actor and singer, said: "Johnny Cash gave me my first break in a way because my first live TV appearance was at 14, covering Johnny Cash songs for children's TV.

"I've been lucky enough to have a long and varied career in showbiz but I'm always asked to include a Johnny Cash song in my set, because people say I sound just like him.

"This show's not a Stars in Their Eyes look-a-like show because I don't look like Johnny Cash, but it's my way of paying tribute to the man and his music."

And Roger explained that the show has had a great response since the first performance last year, which happened to coincide with renewed interest in Johnny Cash after the cinema release of the biopic Walk The Line.

He told Chad: "We have had a fantastic response from the die-hard Johnny Cash fans and I've had people say that if they closed their eyes, they would think it was him singing.

"But we also attract a different type of audience – those who are interested in Johnny's story and might have seen Walk The Line.

"Johnny's songs are all story songs, and I use them to tell the ups and downs right up until the last part of his life, where he had this incredible renewed interest where his music was probably more revered than it ever was at the height of his fame."

Tickets for Roger Dean Sings the Johnny Cash story are £13 or £12 and available from the box office on Mansfield 633133.
