PROJECT bosses leading plans to build a £30m technology park off the MARR road have revealed further details about the development.
The nine-acre technology park will be next to the new West Notts College base, on Cauldwell Road, and construction work is set to start in October next year.

It will provide 2,000sqm of space for new businesses through 40 small units and some larg
er units to expand into and is being led by the Sherwood Growth Zone Partnership — whose members include Nottinghamshire County Council, district councils and the college.

Co-ordinator Tom Rawsterne told Chad many of the new entrepreneurs using the technology park would be former students at the college, who would have a network of support.

He said: "We want to set a benchmark for quality development along the Mansfield/Ashfield Regeneration Route.

"The technology park will become a blueprint that will guide the private sector in the type and quality of development we expect for the area."

Mr Rawsterne said there would be opportunities for college students to undertake work experience at the technology park.

The partnership has applied for £6.3m of Government and European funding to create the infrastructure needed and build an incubation centre and should find out later this month if it has been successful.

Prestige/flagship/regeneration development and another score for our Mayor who sits on the SGZP.
Along with the new venue on Stockwell Gate, things are beginning to happen.

So I take it that apart from the £6.3m of funding, the rest will be paid for by the local taxpayer..
Without consultation??
If so, I also take it that the meetings are closed to the general public..

Correct i.com, meetings of the SGZP are closed to the public but you can contact your rep (the Mayor) with any queries. Visit sherwoodgrowthzone.org and marvel at the prospects for our area. Also note the reference to housing....no wonder the Mayor forgot to declare an interest when the lifting of the ban on housing on MARS (Council 09/09/08) was debated!
