HAVING been involved in the Music Business for more than 20 years, and
a singer / songwriter myself, I feel a massive responsibility to share
great recordings and artists with everyone.
I know the word GREAT is far too often used to describe songs and
artist's who are, quite honestly, very average but JONT is definately
an exception.

His album Supernatural is a heart felt collection of beautifully
performed 'soul' songs - another, too often, misquoted phrase.

I first heard his music on MySpace and was immediately hooked by the
sheer power of his craft. I contacted Jont to ask him to come play for us in Meden Vale and Mansfield.

He agreed and played two of the best little intimate gigs I have ever
witnessed. He stayed over at my modest gaff with his cameraman Lee and they were a complete joy.

Supernatural starts off with the sensational title track, a song with
the wonderful intro lyric "Been thinking of you for about an hour and six minutes to be exact'.

Jont's voice is one of those with a wonderful tonal quality which is
often very close to breaking point, yet always in total control, and the range is awesome - he hits those falsetto notes with ease.

'So let's sail out into the sea through your eyes into eternity - got one life, want to find out what it's like to feel this one high that is true and supernatural'.

The musicians Jont uses on Supernatural are fabulous, playing the
songs for the songs, never getting in the way with over zealous
nonesense, but providing wonderful minimal accompaniament of the highest
order.

Candlelit is the second track on the album and the signature tune for
our Candlelit gigs which were sparked off by the man himself -

This song has a real 'Lou Reed' flavour, both in its feel and lyrical
composition.

Sweetheart is the album's tear jerker - an ode to a true love. It starts off with the scenario of someone driving along the motorway
on a windy night after a row with a lover.

His thoughts are, if he was to crash the car and be critically injured,
the person sat at his bedside waiting for him to come round would be
his sweetheart - so I guess it's basically about the triviality of
argument with loved ones - a beautifully moving song.

The album sweeps effortlessly along and every track is infectious. Suzette is a wonderful joyous pop song - Another Door Closes is my personal favourite track on the album and the first Jont song I ever heard.

The sentiment is wonderful - about not wasting any of our precious time
on earth - a subject which is really difficult to address without sounding pious, but Jont produces an amazingly powerful song which should be in everyone's record collections - if not in their
consciousness.

A lighter moment on the album sees Jont perform the charming How You Do Nothing, which includes the wonderful lyrics 'I'm getting really good at smoking - I just blew my first ring - Sometime you should call and we will hang out - I'll show you how you do nothing' . . . something every musician can honestly relate to.

So back to my original statement about 'great' being hugely overused. Not in this case - Supernatrual by Jont is a truly GREAT album. I urge everyone to go and buy a copy - choose a lovely lazy evening in - swich off the lights - sip a glass of wine and listen to an amazing piece of work.
